The UN-Objective Observer

I think it’s time to break my blog vacation (A very long one, I might say :P ). And my opening salvo is this blog entry I picked up on LXer. I strong agree that this blog entry should be chosen as FUD of the week, because it is well laced by primary 2 poisons: ignorance and plain old stupidity. Well, how the hell is the idea of open source be communism? If I remember correctly, ESR (Eric S. Raymond, of The Cathedral and the Bazaar fame) on the cult classic documentary Revolution OS, said that open source is not like communism because in communism, one is forced (or dictated to be exact) to share. And how the hell does open source be a fascist regime? The main drive of open source is technical merit. Your code will not be included in a project if your peers see it unfit, where’s the fascism in that? I believe it is pretty much like democracy rather than fascism. And how come there is stealing, when open source is governed by the “common spirit of scientific endeavor”, a thing that capitalistic types sometimes have some difficulty to understand. All in all, the one word adjective that will best describe the blog entry is… IDIOTIC. The blog should be called “The Stupid Observer”…
